About me and my Brand
I’m a fashion designer and artist who loves to model in my own clothes! Day by Cathy began as I questioned myself, “Can I be both a fashion designer and an artist at the same time?”. Day by Cathy also emerged from my yearning to realise the different versions of me I’d paint in my self-portraits: from how I could paint myself in an entirely different setting (and situation), to how I could be ‘wearing’ my designs that I don’t really have in real life.
I aim to establish my own space in the art-fashion world: not to compete, but to display myself as I am and continue doing what I do. I’m creating for those who appreciate my work and for myself who enjoys doing so.
Art
I have a love of painting, drawing, sculpting, mixed-media…so you’ll find my art in a variety of forms.
And I use my own art in my own fashion! Many of my original artworks are either hand-painted or printed onto garments.
Fashion
I actualise my designs through both flat pattern cutting and creative draping; I also love to patchwork fabric together or embellish my garments.
Look out for my upcoming 3D-printed, hand-finished accessories based off my clay sculptures too!
Upcycling
Day by Cathy uses no less than 50% sustainable fabrics for garments, likewise materials for art. Scrap materials from my own production are also stored for use in future products: you’ll find my products use upcycled materials very much!
